Universal Studios Hollywood has introduced a significant security overhaul for its CityWalk area and theme park entrances. Starting Wednesday, visitors will now face metal detection screening before entering the shopping district, marking a major shift from previous procedures where security was only present at park gates. The new system features three specific screening hubs located near the main plaza, Jurassic Parking structure, and the former iFly location. A company spokesperson explained that these measures align Universal Studios Hollywood with other Universal destinations nationwide by placing metal detectors adjacent to parking areas. This approach mirrors the Disneyland Resort model in Anaheim, where guests clear security before accessing Downtown Disney and its parks. Previously, guests could walk freely through CityWalk without screening until they reached the theme park entrances. The updated security protocols aim to create a more secure environment while maintaining guest flow efficiency.
