Universal to Open UK Resort in 2031 on Bedford Site Near London

Comcast NBCUniversal has announced plans for its first European theme park resort, named Universal United Kingdom Resort. The massive development will occupy a 540-acre site in Bedford, England, located about 45 minutes from London. Construction is expected to begin soon after more than two years of site evaluation and community engagement. The complex will include a world-class theme park with immersive lands and attractions, a 500-room hotel, and a retail and dining district similar to CityWalk. Company executives view the United Kingdom as an attractive market for expanding Universal’s international presence. This project follows the success of Epic Universe in Orlando and precedes the opening of Kids Resort in Frisco, Texas. The resort is scheduled to welcome its first guests in 2031, with excellent rail connectivity planned for visitor access.
