Walt Disney World Shifts Extended Evening Hours to Animal Kingdom After Magic Kingdom Cuts Back

Walt Disney World is adjusting its schedule for Extended Evening Hours, moving the perk away from Magic Kingdom and toward Animal Kingdom during late 2026. This change occurs because Magic Kingdom will host fewer extended hours due to Party Season events at other parks. While some guests may be disappointed by the reduced availability at Magic Kingdom, the shift aims to better distribute crowds across different locations. Extended Evening Hours typically offers two extra hours for eligible resort guests, but Animal Kingdom currently has limited attractions open during these times. The park’s smaller ride roster means fewer options for visitors compared to other locations like Disney’s Hollywood Studios or EPCOT. However, after sunset in November and December, Animal Kingdom becomes particularly appealing with its nighttime atmosphere and illuminated displays. Strategic planning can help guests maximize their experience by targeting popular rides like Avatar Flight of Passage during less crowded times.
