Cast Member Returns After Saving Guests From Runaway Boulder

Robert Herrick, a veteran Cast Member at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, has returned to the Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular nearly five months after a dramatic incident. During a December 30, 2025 performance, a 400-pound prop boulder unexpectedly jumped its track and threatened audience members. Herrick, who has been with the show for 36 years, instantly moved between the boulder and guests, taking the impact himself. Witnesses described the moment as terrifying, with one guest stating he literally saved their lives. Medical reports indicate Herrick suffered fractured vertebrae in his neck and required stitches for cuts, spending weeks recovering in a neck brace. Despite the severity of his injuries, Herrick consistently downplayed his actions, simply stating he reacted to protect the audience. His return was celebrated by fellow Cast Members with signs calling him an inspiration, though the boulder remains absent from the show. Disney temporarily modified the opening sequence to remove the rolling boulder effect while safety teams reviewed the malfunction. The Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular, a fan-favorite since 1989, remains one of the park’s last surviving opening-day attractions.
