Dinosaur Jack’s Sunglass Shack Opened at Disneyland Resort in 2001

Dinosaur Jack’s Sunglass Shack was an original shop at Disney’s California Adventure when the park opened in February 2001. The store intended to serve as a nostalgic nod to the past through its Route 66 theme. However, critics felt the nostalgic elements failed to effectively capture the spirit of the historic American road trip. Additionally, the area known as the Route 66 corner at Paradise Pier did not convincingly resemble a genuine highway. Despite these shortcomings, the location remains a part of the park’s history since its initial launch over two decades ago. Visitors who have experienced the site may recall its unique atmosphere during the early days of the resort. The Yesterland publication highlighted these observations regarding the store and its surrounding environment in their recent coverage.
