Disney Confirms Major Overhaul for Classic Carousel of Progress Attraction

Disney has officially announced that the Carousel of Progress attraction will undergo a complete transformation, with every scene being updated instead of just adding new content. The show is scheduled to close on July 6th, 2026, for renovations and will reopen sometime in 2027. Each act will feature a different era, starting with the 1960s at the World’s Fair and moving through the moon landing of 1969. The updates continue into the 1980s with Halloween celebrations, the turn of the millennium in 1999, and finally a futuristic scene involving space travel and robots. While Disney aims to honor Walt Disney’s original vision of progress, fans have expressed mixed reactions to these significant changes. Some supporters believe updating the attraction aligns with Walt’s philosophy of evolution, while others feel nostalgic for the original scenes. The community remains divided as they await the official reopening date and hope to see how the new version performs.
