Disney Names First Female Captain in Fleet History

Disney Cruise Line announced Captain Maria Gotor as the first woman to command their ships, marking a historic milestone for the cruise line. Before becoming captain, Maria worked as a lawyer in Spain for six years before discovering her passion for maritime navigation during a ferry ride. She earned a Master’s in Nautical Engineering while working, eventually piloting ferries and advancing through the industry ranks since 2009. Her appointment came after joining Disney in September 2024 as a Staff Captain, where she expressed immense joy connecting with guests and crew.
