Disney is undertaking a significant refurbishment of the Carousel of Progress attraction, which has been operating since the 1964 World’s Fair. The entire show will be reworked to make its message about technological progress more relatable to modern audiences. New acts will cover the 1960s, 1980s, turn of the millennium, and a possible future where innovation is part of daily life. The attraction will close on July 6th for this transformation and is expected to reopen in 2027. While some fans are concerned about losing the classic museum-like tribute to Walt Disney, others believe the changes are necessary. The refurbishment includes adding a Walt Disney animatronic in the introduction, similar to what exists at Disneyland. This update aims to keep the attraction’s hopeful message relevant for today’s guests while maintaining its core theme of progress.
