Disney is testing a modified rope drop system at its Animal Kingdom theme park designed to alleviate morning congestion for day guests. Under the new procedure, non-resort visitors are permitted to enter Discovery Island prior to the official 8:00 a.m. opening time, although all retail outlets remain closed during this interim period. Guests in this group can enjoy viewing the iconic Tree of Life and capture early morning photographs using the PhotoPass service while they wait. Meanwhile, those staying at Disney Resort hotels retain their existing Early Entry privileges which begin at 7:30 a.m. when resort-specific access gates open. Cast Members will guide resort guests through designated pathways toward popular attractions like Avatar Flight of Passage and Expedition Everest to maintain orderly entry flows. Disney officials have emphasized that this initiative remains an experimental phase, with protocols subject to daily adjustments as effectiveness is evaluated. Successful implementation could ultimately provide all visitors with improved spacing and a less chaotic experience during the critical first hours of the park day.
