Disney World Cast Members will get paid time off if they contract Coronavirus

Disney World

According to the Orlando Sentinel, Walt Disney World Resort reports that they will provide paid sick leave for their workers if they any of them get COVID-19. A union representing Disney employees were given this information recently.

The news arrives as Walt Disney World prepares for the partial reopening of Disney Springs. Last week, we announced Disney’s plan to reopen Disney Springs on May 20th, 2020. It’ll be only a select number of third-party stores for the first phase of reopening, but more stores and restaurants will follow in the weeks ahead. After weeks of being furloughed, the first wave of Disney Cast Members are returning to work to help Disney Springs resume its operations.

The Orlando Sentinel continues to highlight the information that the union shared with them. If requested, Disney will provide three face masks plus a thermometer to its employees. Also, Walt Disney World Resort plans on installing plastic barriers at all cash registers. The current plan is to promote touchless payment transactions for Disney guests. Safety measures such as these will help protect the health of both Disney workers and guests.

We will provide updates on the phased reopening of Disney Springs as more information becomes available.
