Disney World Hurricane Cancellation Policy Explained for Visitors

Visitors planning a trip to Disney World between June and November should be aware of hurricane risks and the associated cancellation policies. The National Hurricane Center defines Atlantic hurricane season from June 1st through November 30th, making Florida particularly vulnerable during this period. If a hurricane warning is issued within seven days of arrival for either Orlando or your home location, guests can cancel or reschedule their Disney hotel reservations without incurring fees. This policy applies only to bookings made directly with Disney and excludes youth groups, special events, meetings, and conventions. Third-party bookings such as airlines, rental cars, and travel agency reservations require contacting those services separately for changes. When rescheduling is chosen, all payments for rooms, tickets, and dining plans transfer to the new reservation dates. Understanding these guidelines provides peace of mind for families considering a vacation during hurricane season at Disney World.
