Disney World Monorail Closed Forces Ferryboat Delays at Magic Kingdom

Visitors to Disney World’s Magic Kingdom faced significant transportation delays this morning after the Express Monorail from the Transportation and Ticket Center went down and requires towing. With the monorail out of service, guests attempting to reach the park must rely on ferryboat services, which are currently experiencing long lines due to high demand. Although resort monorail service remains operational, it provides a longer route around the property rather than a direct path. Disney has temporarily doubled ferryboat capacity from one to two vessels running between locations, but this still struggles to handle the volume of travelers seeking entry. The situation remains fluid as staff work to manage the unexpected closure and restore normal operations for park access.

Key Points:

  • The Express Monorail to Magic Kingdom went down and needs to be towed, causing a closure of the entire line.
  • Bus service has not yet started as an alternative transportation option for guests arriving at the Transportation and Ticket Center.
  • Only two ferryboats are currently running between the Transportation and Ticket Center and Magic Kingdom, which is double the normal capacity.
  • The Resort Monorail is still operational and can be used to reach Magic Kingdom, though it takes a longer route around the property.
