Disney World Traffic Improvements Coming to Grand Floridian Resort Entrance

Disney World is currently undergoing significant construction at its Grand Floridian Resort, which involves rerouting vehicle traffic and improving access points. Guests are being directed to a new northern roundabout entrance instead of the traditional southern route on Floridan Way, though the main gate remains accessible for entry. The exit has been temporarily blocked off, requiring visitors to use an alternate exit path until construction is complete. Cast Members have indicated that these traffic improvements aim to enhance overall flow around Magic Kingdom and the resort area, with completion expected by mid-October or October 22nd according to Apple Maps data. While the Monorail service continues operating normally, some areas near the roundabouts and gates remain under active construction. Visitors planning a trip should be aware of these temporary changes but can expect improved traffic control once all work is finished. The resort team hopes these updates will ultimately provide a smoother experience for future guests visiting this iconic property.

Key Points:

  • The Grand Floridian hotel has a new entrance route where guests are rerouted to the northern roundabout instead of the southern roundabout on Floridan Way
  • There is still quite a bit of construction, especially near the new roundabouts and the entrance gates themselves
  • While you can enter through the normal, main gate, the exit is blocked off, and guests are being rerouted to a different exit
  • A Cast Member in the lobby said that the northern roundabout will be the new entrance, and that they are hoping for the construction to be complete by mid-October
  • Apple Maps states construction will be complete by October 22nd
  • The new Floridian Way roundabouts were constructed in conjunction with updates to World Drive, designed to improve traffic control around Magic Kingdom and the Magic Kingdom resort area
  • There’s also some Monorail construction going on at the Grand Floridian, but luckily the Monorail is still running to this resort
