A new documentary titled Disney Worldbuilders explores the creative journeys of influential filmmakers who have shaped Disney’s storytelling legacy. Directed by Leslie Iwerks, granddaughter of Disney animator Ub Iwerks, the film features candid conversations with industry giants including Bob Iger, James Cameron, and Kevin Feige. These storytellers reflect on how their childhood experiences at Disneyland inspired their work and how those stories translate into physical theme park attractions worldwide. The documentary will premiere at D23 Expo in August 2026 before streaming on Disney+, offering behind-the-scenes footage of upcoming park expansions. Iwerks draws from her family’s deep Disney heritage, continuing a tradition of documenting the company’s creative evolution through compelling filmmaking.
