The iconic entrance fountain at EPCOT has officially been refilled and is flowing once again after being drained for roughly a month. Guests visiting the park noted that the fountain was non-operational as early as Tuesday, July 21, leaving the base empty surrounding the central sculpture. It remains unclear whether Disney purposefully drained the fountain for routine maintenance or if an unexpected mechanical issue forced the temporary shutdown. Throughout the month-long downtime no construction walls scaffolding or heavy maintenance equipment were placed around the perimeter. Spare change and coins remained scattered along the dry basin confirming the fountain was not drained simply for routine coin harvesting or cleaning. Standing directly in front of Spaceship Earth the current entrance fountain debuted in December 2020 as part of EPCOT’s multi-year main entrance reimagining. With the water running normally again the entrance plaza has returned to its full picture-perfect state just in time for the heavy park crowds.
