Disney World is implementing new solar-powered trash cans at EPCOT to enhance the guest experience and reduce mess. Previously, guests often used these trash cans as makeshift tables during busy times, which led to dirty swinging doors and unpleasant dining conditions. The new design features a push-down bar that opens the lid without requiring hands, preventing food and sauce from contaminating the mechanism. Solar panels on top of the cans collect energy throughout the day while recycling bins also receive updates with curved tops. While it remains unclear if guests can still dine on these surfaces, the improved functionality is expected to be welcomed by visitors. These innovations mirror similar trash cans found in Disneyland Paris and may expand across other Disney parks in the future. The changes represent a small but meaningful upgrade that benefits both guests and the environment.
