Fantasylands historic King Arthur Carrousel reopens for Disneyland anniversary celebration

Disneyland Park welcomed guests back to the iconic King Arthur Carrousel after a short refurbishment period. The beloved attraction closed briefly on July 6 but reopened on July 17 to coincide with the parks 71st opening anniversary. Originally built in 1922 in Canada, Walt Disney acquired this carousel in 1954 and installed it when Disneyland opened on July 17, 1955. Walt transformed the original animal-themed ride into one featuring only majestic white horses inspired by The Sword in the Stone legend. The restoration maintained all 68 hand-carved figures while preserving the classic calliope music and whimsical atmosphere. Visitors can now enjoy spinning among these beautiful horses during the special anniversary festivities. The Get Away Today travel agency is available to assist with vacation planning for future visits.
