Universal Studios Hollywood has unexpectedly opened the new Fast & Furious Hollywood Drift roller coaster during a technical rehearsal phase, months ahead of its anticipated summer 2026 debut. The coaster is located on the Upper Lot and features individual cars with a turning mechanism, drawing comparisons to Guardians of the Galaxy Cosmic Rewind at Disney World and VelociCoaster at Universal Islands of Adventure. Riders must pass through metal detectors and store belongings in lockers before boarding. The ride offers powerful launches, smooth motion, and scenic views, though the experience lasts only between one and one and a half minutes. Currently there is no music playing inside the cars, and wait times have reportedly reached around three hours. While guests can ride during this soft opening period, the attraction may close unexpectedly as testing continues. The same ride is slated to open at Universal Studios Orlando next year.
