Michael Reyes known as Mr. Eyes is departing Gideon’s Bakehouse after over ten years of shaping its distinctive gothic aesthetic. He joined the company when it was small and grew to create logos branding artwork and atmosphere that define the beloved brand including its Disney Springs location. Reyes described leaving as bittersweet noting he poured every ounce of his soul into the project but feels ready for personal growth and new creative ventures. He also closed his personal brand Terribly Odd which created gothic art since 2003 due to rising costs and declining sales with future projects now under his Mr. Eyes identity. Fans will recognize Reyes influence everywhere from eerie wall portraits to whimsical packaging that complements the famous cookies and cake slices. Gideon’s has not announced a replacement artist yet though guests can still enjoy the immersive atmosphere during visits. Longtime fans are taking time to honor the artist whose vision made Gideon’s one of Disney Springs most unique destinations while everyone watches what Mr. Eyes creates next.
