A stray pyrotechnic effect misfired during the July 9th performance of Fantasmic at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The small firework launched from the lagoon stage and traveled across the water toward the amphitheater seating area. A video captured by an audience member shows the firework appearing to fizzle out just as it reached the stands. Eyewitnesses in the center stage viewing area report that no panic occurred during this unexpected incident. Guests sitting near where the firework landed noted it burned out safely before making physical contact with anyone. The performance continued without interruption, and Disney’s Hollywood Studios cast members kept the show running right through to the finale. No injuries have been reported from this unusual event.
