The exterior refurbishment of The Haunted Mansion at Magic Kingdom has reached a significant milestone with scaffolding and construction scrims removed from the Liberty Square attraction. The fresh exterior paint scheme honors the mansion’s original 1971 opening day aesthetic, featuring darker brickwork with a rich reddish-brown finish and trim that shifted from beige to a crisp gray. The cupola dome has been restored to its distinct green shade from when Magic Kingdom first opened, while the roof now displays sleek black finishing and chimneys show ashy black weathered detailing. The adjacent greenhouse’s wrought iron framework received a darker green coat as part of the comprehensive update. Some final touches remain including pale primer paint on lower trim sections, protective gray tarps along perimeter walls, and pending landscaping replanting near the front queue. The overall renovation gives the beloved attraction a darker, more dramatic appearance while directly connecting it back to the park’s historical origins in 1971.
