Lion King Performer Veryl E Jones Retires After Two Decades at Disney World

Veryl E. Jones is retiring from Walt Disney World after more than twenty years of performing as Kiume in Festival of the Lion King at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. The beloved performer brought the spirit of the Pride Lands to life and became a fan favorite for his powerful rendition of Scar’s song Be Prepared during the high-energy stage spectacular. Fellow cast members recently celebrated his incredible career with a heartfelt farewell inside the Harambe Theater, recognizing his lasting impact on audiences and the Disney family. Beyond his work at Disney, Jones has also appeared in several Hollywood films including Bad Boys II and The Punisher spanning both stage and screen careers. Festival of the Lion King has been entertaining guests since Disney’s Animal Kingdom opened in 1998 and recently welcomed its 80 millionth guest. As Veryl E. Jones steps away from the stage he leaves behind a legacy that has inspired millions of guests over the years.
