Norwegian Cruise Line Cracks Down on Pool Chair Reservation Practices

Norwegian Cruise Line is actively enforcing its long-standing policy against reserving pool and deck chairs without using them. Crew members aboard the Norwegian Escape have been marking unattended chairs with stickers and removing personal belongings after an hour to make space for other guests. This action addresses a common frustration among passengers who find their desired seating occupied by towels or flip-flops while they are away. While chair hogging has long been debated, many passengers now support stricter enforcement as it promotes fair access to limited poolside areas. Some concerns remain about personal belongings being touched and the needs of families requiring longer chair usage times. Nevertheless, most agree that reserving chairs for a reasonable duration is acceptable, but leaving them unattended for hours is problematic. As cruise ships operate at high occupancy levels, this policy could become more prevalent across other cruise lines to ensure equitable access for all passengers.
