Universal Plans Two New Theme Park Resorts in Texas and UK

Universal is expanding its theme park empire with two major new resort developments. The first, the Universal Kids Resort, will open in Frisco, Texas on July 1st, targeting families with young children. This location represents Universal’s first U.S. park without Disney competition and features attractions based on SpongeBob SquarePants, Minions, Jurassic World, Shrek, Trolls, Puss in Boots, and Gabby’s Dollhouse. The second project is a massive United Kingdom resort scheduled to open in 2031 in Bedfordshire, England. This European destination will be Universal’s first newly built park on the continent since briefly operating PortAventura years ago. The UK complex spans approximately 476 acres and includes a theme park, hotel, and entertainment district expected to draw 8.5 million visitors annually. These developments demonstrate Universal’s continued growth strategy in untapped geographic markets beyond its traditional Orlando stronghold.
