Spirit Airlines has ceased operations, leaving many travelers without their usual flights. Fortunately, other carriers are stepping in to fill the gaps at Tampa International Airport. By July, all of Spirit’s original routes will be covered by competing airlines. Delta, Southwest, Frontier, American, United, JetBlue, and Breeze are now serving various destinations previously handled by Spirit. Starting July 1st, Breeze will add flights between Tampa and Atlantic City. Additionally, Delta plans to double daily flights between Tampa and Austin beginning July 7th. While this is just one airport affected by the closure, more routes may be absorbed at other locations. Travelers are hoping these new arrangements won’t lead to significant price increases. The situation demonstrates how quickly the airline industry can adapt to major disruptions.
