Walt Disney Family Museum offering virtual art exhibition

Walt Disney Family Museum offering virtual art exhibition Walt Disney Family Museum

The Walt Disney Family Museum is offering a special virtual exhibit for Disney fans staying home during the COVID-19 pandemic. The World of Tomorrow exhibit includes 175 unique pieces to be displayed in a virtual recreation of the museum’s Diane Disney Miller Exhibition Hall.

Readers can click here to see the virtual art exhibition. The official description for the museum’s virtual exhibit, The World of Tomorrow, can be found below:

“The Walt Disney Family Museum is excited to premiere The World of Tomorrow, a new virtual exhibition featuring works created by the museum’s global community. Inspired by each artists’ vision for a “world of tomorrow,” this diverse selection of works includes paintings, drawings, photographs, and 3D objects in a 3D-rendered virtual gallery space.

During our temporary closure, The Walt Disney Family Museum has continued to share Walt’s story across social media and virtual platforms. As part of the museum’s mission to enlighten and educate future generations, we strive to highlight the importance of growth through adversity, and how the adversity Walt faced shaped him to be one of the great innovators of the 20th century. The World of Tomorrow draws inspiration from Walt’s ambition to keep moving forward and design a brighter future.”

A Golden Celebration of Disney History

This week, we announced that D23 will be celebrating the Walt Disney Archives and its Golden Anniversary throughout the month of June and we hope that all of you will join us for an inside look at the wonders of this amazing collection of “everything Disney.”

A Golden Celebration of Disney History

The Archives is the company’s repository for all of its treasures – from film to television to parks around the world.  And its vaults hold incredible riches like Walt Disney’s correspondence files, the contract that started the Walt Disney Company, Mary Poppins carpet bag, the Nautilus, Mousketeer Annette’s famous sweater and even amazing treasures like the first ticket to Disneyland and Walt Disney’s own (#1) park nametag. So, we hope you’ll join us for special peek into the Archives this month, and if you want to see even more, we’ll be premiering a brand new film called “Adventure Thru the Walt Disney Archives.”

This new short-form documentary celebrates all 50 years of collecting and preserving the history of the Walt Disney Company.  Hosted by renowned producer Don Hahn, the film gives viewers a look inside rarely-seen Archives locations, including those at Disneyland park, Disney California Adventure park, and the Studio Lot through a historical lens. Each stop on our adventure features treasured artifacts–some are obscure, others are iconic–but all have played a pivotal role in Disney history. The culmination of the film brings us to one of the Archives’ most amazing achievements—the restored Offices of Walt Disney.

So here’s to another 50 years and beyond Preserving the Magic of The Walt Disney Company!

This Week in Disney History: Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge Opens at Disneyland Resort, 2019

One year ago, we celebrated the momentous dedication of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at the Disneyland Resort. After decades of collaboration between Walt Disney Imagineering and Lucasfilm, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge officially opened to Disneyland park guests on May 31, 2019.

Star Wars icons George Lucas, Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill and Billy Dee Williams joined Disney Executive Chairman Bob Iger for the historic dedication ceremony in front of the fastest hunk of junk in the galaxy, the Millennium Falcon.

As the largest single-themed land expansion in Disney history, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge invites you to live your own Star Wars adventures in a galaxy far, far away. Take control of the most famous ship in the galaxy aboard Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run or join a climactic battle between the Resistance and the First Order in Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance (opened Jan. 17, 2020). While exploring this expansive 14-acre land, sample galactic food and drink, enter an intriguing collection of merchant shops and encounter aliens, droids and other inhabitants on the planet Batuu.

Tell us about your travels to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in the comments below!
