California Says Film Studios Can Resume Filming as of June 12th With Some Conditions

California Says Film Studios Can Resume Filming as of June 12th With Some Conditions

California Says Film Studios Can Resume Filming as of June 12th With Some Conditions. At the beginning of the COVID-19 Pandemic, filming for television and film ended on a moments notice and has just begun getting the all clear to resume around the world.

This week, the California Department of Public Health made a formal announcement stating: “Music, TV and film production may resume in California, recommended no sooner than June 12, 2020, and subject to approval by county public health officers within the jurisdictions of operations,” the department shared. “To reduce the risk of COVID-19 transmission, productions, cast, crew and other industry workers should abide by safety protocols agreed by labor and management, which may be further enhanced by county public health officers.”

According to the report from LA Times, “On Monday, a task force of studios and union officials submitted a 22-page white paper to governors in California and New York; its proposed health and safety guidelines aim to protect workers and performers as production resumes. The paper calls for dramatic changes to what had previously been routine practices in the film and TV industry, which was booming before the pandemic because of the demand for content by multiple streaming services. The shutdown drew focus to long-standing problems with hygiene and sanitation on film sets, including a lack of hand-washing stations.”

It should be noted, some of our favorite upcoming titles are currently or scheduled to be filmed in various locations around the U.S. and the world, so this would only affect titles currently scheduled to film in the State of California. No formal announcement has been made for nationwide filming to resume. We do know that films such as the Avatar Sequels have resumed filming in New Zealand and Prague recently re-opened to international filming and will be one of the filming locations for The Falcon and the Winter Soldier coming to Disney+.

Confirmed: James Mangold Replacing Steven Spielberg as Director for ‘Indiana Jones 5’

James Mangold Replaces Steven Spielberg as Director for ‘Indiana Jones 5‘. Director James Mangold (Logan, Walk the Line) has officially signed on as director for Indiana Jones 5, with Steven Spielberg moving into an Executive Producer role for the film. Recently, James Mangold spoke with ComicBook regarding how he approaches working in established franchises like Indiana Jones and X-Men.

When ComicBook inquired about his taking the reigns from Spielberg for the Indiana Jones franchise Mangold stated, “I can’t comment on anything like that. But, like in all my work, I’m always trying to find an emotional center to operate from.”

He continued, “I think the most important thing is, in an age when franchises have become a commodity, that serving the same thing again. At least for me, in the dances I’ve had with any franchises, serving the same thing again, the same way, usually just produces a longing for the first time you ate it. Meaning, it makes an audience wish that they just had the first one over again. So you have to push something to someplace new, while also remembering the core reasons why everyone was gathered. And to use Logan as an example of that, when you’re dealing in a world of a very pressured franchise.”

Since he was unable to give details regarding what he plans to do in the fifth Indiana Jones film he went on to use Logan as an example of how he keeps the core values of the characters and stories, though he may have unexpected content appear in his films.

“For all of the things, and there were many that I freed myself from in the canon, in the baggage, to try and make the best story,” Mangold shared. “The core values of Logan, of Wolverine, and Charles Xavier and the X-Men, were something that I felt we never abandoned. The core ideas of their honor, their sense of duty, and the uniqueness of this particular set of characters that they were outcasts, oddities. Beings that had no home in this world, and yet we’re trying to do good. Were trying to do something right and find their way. Those core issues were at the heart of the movie. And in any franchise I take in, I’d always be trying to capture and make sure that we preserve those core ideas that are at the center, because that’s why these stories are more than franchises. They’re the fairy tales of our contemporary culture.”

Production delays have been a major issue for Indiana Jones 5. Several issues involving members in both the cast and crews and now the COVID-19 pandemic, we are hoping to see filming begin sometime in early 2021, with a theatrical release likely in 2022-2023. Star Wars Fan Syncs X-Wing Footage to ‘Danger Zone’ from Top Gun

Star Wars Fan Syncs X-Wing Footage to ‘Danger Zone’ from Top Gun. Massive Star Wars fan Jackson McKay has made the ultimate compilation of X-Wing footage from Star Wars: Episodes IV-IX and Rogue One and synced the video to Danger Zone, the iconic Kenny Loggins song from Top Gun.

Jackson shared, “I waited to make this until I could use [The Rise Of Skywalker] footage. X-Wings are my favorite starfighters, so it seemed like a fun project to keep me occupied while we’re all social distancing. Hope you enjoy!”

You can check out the full video below:

The pairing only seems natural given the nature of the song and the parallel to the use of X-Wings in the Star Wars franchise and the fighter jets used in Top Gun. We loved this creative compilation. Thanks, Jackson!

Rumored: Ahsoka Tano Getting Her Own Star Wars Series on Disney+

Rumored: Ahsoka Tano Getting Her Own Star Wars Series on Disney+. Since the news spread of Ahsoka Tano’s appearance in The Mandalorian Season 2 fans have been buzzing to learn more about her role within the series.

Though Disney and Lucasfilm have yet to confirm any new casting choices for The Mandalorian, sources close to production have confirmed Rosario Dawson as Ahsoka Tano, Katee Sackhoff as Bo-Katan Kryze, and Temuera Morrison as Boba Fett/Captain Rex, the character Sabine Wren from Star Wars: Rebels is also expected to appear in the series. The latest rumor has added Timothy Olyphant (Santa Clarita Diet) to the mix in a mysterious role for the series.

We are still on pins and needles for confirmation about the characters appearances in the mega popular Star Wars series, but it has led others to start questioning: “Is Ahsoka getting her own series on Disney+?”

Without official confirmation of the characters appearance in the new series it is a bit early to predict the path of Ahsoka, but with how Star Wars: Rebels ended there is more than enough content to be explored! It is also unclear if the rumor means we will get a live-action series or possibly another animated series following the Grey Jedi. We would LOVE for this rumor to be true and only time will tell if it holds any merit.

The Mandalorian Season 2 finished filming back in February 2020 and is currently being edited at home thanks to the dedicated VFX artists and editors at Lucasfilm. Disney also recently ordered a third season of the mega-popular Star Wars series, which will likely premiere on Disney+ in October 2021, similarly to how the first two seasons were released via the new streaming service.

Would you like to see an Ahsoka led series? What new characters are you excited to see in Season 2 of The Mandalorian? What adventures do you think are in store for season 2? We would love to hear your thoughts in the comments.
