disney world resort

We are getting closer to the reopening of the Walt Disney World Resort!

And with that comes the reopening of some Disney resorts as well. As we know, Disney recently announced they will be opening certain resorts on June 22. More specifically, DVC resorts.

But now there are some good news for those that are not DVC members or are looking for a more affordable option. Three Disney World area hotels will be reopening on July 1st!

Just in time to book your room and be ready for when Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom reopen on July 11 and Hollywood Studios and Epcot on July 15!

If you would like to know more about what to expect with the reopening of Walt Disney World, you can do it here.

Stormalong Bay Closed but Beach Club Guests will have Access to Disney’s BoardWalk Pool

When select Walt Disney World Resort hotels reopen later this month, not all amenities will be available to guests.

Stormalong Bay at Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club Resorts will not be available during the initial reopening period. Guests of Disney’s Beach Club Villas may use the resort leisure pool, and may also use the Luna Park Pool and leisure pool at Disney’s BoardWalk Villas.

Stormalong Bay features three lagoon areas — including one specifically designed for younger water-lovers, with a depth of 2 to 3 feet.

A spiral stair on board the life-sized shipwreck ascends to a 150-foot mast, broken and askew to serve as a flume plummeting toward a rocky outcropping where another 150 feet of spins complete a fast-moving thrill slide.

If you’ll be staying at Disney’s Beach or Yacht Clubs and you’d like to have some pool time, you can check out the pool at Disney’s BoardWalk Villas.

Two Disney World Area Hotels have Extended their Closures

Two Disney World area hotels have recently extended their closures. The Swan and Dolphin Resorts are located on Disney property, however, they are not Disney-owned, so they set their own reopening dates.

The previous reopening date stated on their website was July 6 which would’ve given guests another option for staying on Disney property when the parks reopen.

The Swan and Dolphin website now states that the hotels will be closed through July 29, 2020. The site also gives more information for guests with reservations:

“For guests with existing reservations for any future arrival date, including reservations with pre-paid rates that are typically more restrictive, we will allow full changes or cancellation without a charge up to 24 hours prior to arrival, as long as the change or cancellation is made by July 29, 2020. Please note that any changes to existing reservations will be subject to availability and any rate differences.

For guests making new reservations for any future arrival date, including reservations with pre-paid rates, from today until July 29, 2020, we will allow the reservation to be changed or cancelled at no charge up to 24 hours before your scheduled arrival date. Please note that changes to the reservation will be subject to availability and any rate differences.”

As of now the only Disney Resort hotels that will be open when the parks reopen will be DVC resorts and Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground. The parks are scheduled to open July 11 (Magic Kingdom and Disney’s Animal Kingdom) and July 15 (Epcot and Disney’s Hollywood Studios).

Helpful Virtual Chat With a Walt Disney World Resort Cast Member Feature Coming Soon

virtual chat

A helpful virtual chat with a Walt Disney World Resort Cast Member feature is coming soon! With the phased reopening of the Walt Disney World Resort, many measures are being set in place to reduce interactions while COVID-19 concerns are still present. These are to keep guests safe while enjoying the Disney magic we miss so much.

One of these new features- a virtual chat with a Resort Cast Member- will allow any assistance for guests’ hotel stays without having to wait in the lobby for help. This feature will be available on the My Disney Experience App beginning June 22.

To reduce the risk of exposure to COVID-19, Walt Disney World will offer the virtual chat feature, online check-in, automatic checkout, enhanced cleaning, and much more! For more information on all of the steps Walt Disney World will be taking to keep guests safe, click here.

We can’t wait to be back at the “happiest place on Earth” while staying safe, of course!

Having a Disney Resort hotel reservation does not guarantee theme park access

Disney Hotel Reservation

There has been a lot of news coming out tonight about the reopening of Walt Disney World. One of the bigger news items is how having a Disney Resort hotel reservation does not guarantee theme park access…

On the Disney World website under Top things you should know Disney list out details for guests staying at Walt Disney World.

Let’s take a look

Top Things You Need To Know

We made some important updates at our Disney Resort hotels and implemented a number of new health and safety measures.

What You’ll Need

Before traveling to Florida, please make sure that you have reviewed any advisories or restrictions that may be in place for travel to Florida. Visit https://floridahealthcovid19.gov/travelers/ for information. Guests who are under isolation or quarantine orders must not enter Walt Disney World Resort.

Please be aware that you’ll also need:

  • A confirmed room reservation for your stay. Be sure to link your reservation to your Disney account to receive important information prior to your arrival—visit My Plans to get started
  • A confirmed dining reservation if you’re a day Guest (not staying overnight)
  • Face coverings for each Guest age 2 and up—which must be worn in all public areas, except while swimming or seated for dining
  • Planning to visit a theme park during your stay? Select Walt Disney World theme parks will begin to reopen on July 11. To enter a park, both a park reservation and valid admission for the same park on the same date is required (a Disney Resort hotel reservation does not guarantee theme park access)

Also, it’s highly recommended to have:

  • The latest version of the My Disney Experience app on your mobile device, with location services and notifications enabled
  • Cashless or contactless forms of payment, including MagicBands, which Disney Resort hotel Guests can use to charge purchases to their Disney Resort hotel folio

Could you imagine getting all the way to Disney World and you might not make it to the park?

Disney Fans online are quite upset over that bit of news. I understand having to run at limited capacity due to COVID-19 but many people including myself spend thousands of dollars to visit the theme parks. I couldn’t imagine getting all the way there and not having access to the parks…

What do you think? Let us know in the comment box below!
