Universal Destinations and Experiences has officially unveiled Universal Kids Resort, a new family-friendly theme park located in Frisco, Texas. The 97-acre facility is designed specifically for young children and their families, featuring seven distinct themed lands based on popular franchises like DreamWorks, Illumination, and Nickelodeon. The park will officially open its doors on July 1, 2026, offering attractions such as Shrek’s Swamp, Minions vs. Minions, and SpongeBob SquarePants Bikini Bottom. In addition to rides and play areas, the resort includes a 300-room hotel and sensory gardens for relaxation. While the project has received city council approval with significant economic incentives, it faces opposition from some local residents concerned about traffic and property values. Industry analysts view this as a strategic move to capture the regional market, though questions remain about whether Disney will follow suit with similar regional parks.
