Universal Studios Florida once featured real sets from the classic Alfred Hitchcock film Psycho, including the Bates Motel and Bates Mansion. These screen-used sets were installed near the Hard Rock Cafe when the park opened in 1990 and even allowed guests to witness filming of Psycho IV during its first month. The attractions served as thematic elements for Halloween Horror Nights houses and complemented an Alfred Hitchcock attraction featuring recreations from his films. By 1995, the Bates Motel was replaced by a Barney show, while the mansion closed in 1998 to become a Curious George play area. Both areas eventually merged into Woody Woodpecker’s KidZone, transforming former horror movie locations into child-friendly entertainment spaces. This transformation continued when KidZone closed in 2024 for redevelopment into DreamWorks Land, marking another shift in the park’s thematic identity.
