Will Disney adopt new cleaning strategies for their resorts when reopening

The latest trend among hotels is the renewed focus on brand-name cleanliness. Ever since the COVID-19 pandemic started, more than two dozen major hotel chains have announced new partnerships with cleaning product companies, academic scholars, and health organization leaders. Florida hotel chains are following this example to reassure tourists how it’s safe to travel again. Will Disney adopt new cleaning strategies for their resorts when reopening?

On April 21st, Marriott announced its new Global Cleanliness Council, which includes advisory members from Ecolab, Cornell University, and Perdue University. Arne Sorenson, the president and CEO of Marriott International explained his reasoning for the company’s new partnerships in response to the pandemic.

”We are living in a new age, with COVID-19 front and center for our guests and our associates. We want our guests to understand what we are doing today and planning for in the near future in the areas of cleanliness, hygiene and social distancing.”

In the coming months, expect to see hotel cleanliness initiatives transform into a primary marketing tool. Many hotel chains are seeking brand-name partnerships to enhance their message to the public. For instance, Hilton launched their “Hilton CleanStay with Lysol” initiative that has them paired up with Lysol and experts from the Mayo Clinic. The tourism industry wants to ensure the safety of travelers by showing proof of how they are committed to new health practices.

With so many major hotel chains announcing their new health and safety agendas, we might see Disney follow suit with their own special initiatives. Time will tell if they do announce similar partnerships for their resorts.
