Construction is progressing on Archie Scare Pig Pizza, the new Monsters Inc themed restaurant replacing PizzeRizzo at Disney Hollywood Studios. A permit filed by Walt Disney Imagineering on October 8 authorizes ThemeWorks Inc to install set elements at the location on Cypress Drive. This follows a September construction permit indicating continuous work on the transformation of the former dining spot. The name Archie refers to the six legged Fear Tech mascot from Monsters University who appears in college rivalry scenes. Disney plans to replace existing kitchen equipment and introduce a new pizza recipe for a completely refreshed dining experience rather than simply applying a monster theme to the old menu. The restaurant will be part of the larger Monstropolis expansion including a new Monsters Inc suspended roller coaster and Harryhausen’s dining location. While the complete menu and opening date remain unknown, set installation suggests the transformation is moving forward.
