Disney Cuts Jobs While Holiday Season and D23 Approach

Disney has announced another round of layoffs affecting Pixar, National Geographic, and ESPN as restructuring continues under CEO Josh D’Amaro. The holiday season at Disneyland begins November 19, earlier than originally planned and aligning with Walt Disney World. D23 events include an auction of rare park memorabilia and a sweepstakes offering prizes such as a cruise and Hawaiian vacation. A new documentary titled Disney Worldbuilders explores how films become immersive park lands, debuting at D23 before streaming on Disney+. Summer heat has reduced park crowds temporarily, creating a quiet period before Halloween season begins. The Plaza Inn character breakfast is paused from August 10 through late September for unknown reasons while new food partnerships roll out across the resort.
