Disney Restores Cinderella Castle to Original Colors After Five Year Project

Disney has completed a major restoration project on Cinderella Castle at Magic Kingdom, returning the iconic landmark to its original color scheme. The creative team behind this initiative worked closely with Facility Asset Management to reimagine the castle’s appearance while honoring its historical significance. Nathan, an Associate Project Manager who started as an intern, oversaw the complex process of draining and cleaning the moat before painting began on the structure’s facade. Disney Imagineering selected elegant shades inspired by the castle’s 1971 design, featuring deep blue roofs, stonework, and gold trim to celebrate its architectural details. The project required innovative solutions including temporary dams and boom lifts positioned within the drained moat for safe access to all areas. This restoration represents a significant achievement for the creative team and brings renewed magic to one of Disney’s most recognizable symbols. The completed work showcases how careful attention to historical accuracy can preserve beloved attractions while maintaining their enchanting appeal for visitors.
