During the Disney Experiences Showcase on Saturday night, Chairman Thomas Mazloum announced the creation of a new villains-themed area at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom. The land will be officially named Villains Land and will feature an all-new story set in a foreboding forest where corrupted magic from a broken wishing well has drawn notorious villains to create their own lairs. Guests can expect two major attractions including a roller coaster that takes riders through Maleficent’s enchanted briar and into her mountaintop fortress, as well as a dark ride exploring the Evil Queen’s palace catacombs and mystical Mirror Realm. The new land will be built on the massive 14-acre scale of Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge and will include themed shopping, dining options, and various villainous entertainment experiences. Disney describes the villains inhabiting this realm as powerful, sophisticated characters with impeccable taste who have elevated their lairs to reflect their unique personalities and styles.
