Latest Updates on Disneyland Resort Projects and Attractions for 2026

The Disneyland Resort is currently undergoing numerous exciting developments and expansions as it approaches D23 2026. A new dragon animatronic is planned to replace the one that burned in 2023 for the Fantasmic show, while Fantasyland continues its transformation with potential updates to remaining dark rides like Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride and Pinocchio’s Daring Journey. Hollywood Land will be redeveloped into an AVATAR-themed experience, replacing attractions like Monsters Inc., with construction delays pushing the closure of existing rides to 2027. A new Coco boat ride attraction is set to open at Disney California Adventure, utilizing space near Pixar Pier and possibly transforming Paradise Gardens dining patio. Downtown Disney is being completely reimagined with new dining options including Earl of Sandwich, Gordon Ramsay at the Carnaby, Porto’s Bakery, and Arthur & Sons Steakhouse replacing shuttered venues. The DisneylandForward initiative has received city approval for a $1.9 billion investment that includes a new Eastern Gateway, parking structure, pedestrian bridge over Harbor Blvd., and potential development of a third theme park on resort land.
