Walt Disney World has unveiled new concept art and details for The Wetlands, an outdoor recreation area at the upcoming Disney Lakeshore Lodge resort. Scheduled to open in summer 2027, this waterfront property will feature themed aquatic play areas inspired by Pocahontas, including Heron Shores and Otter Springs for younger guests. The resort includes a lazy river called Daydream River, a zero-entry pool named Lakeside Lagoon with a spiral waterslide, and additional leisure pools with views of Magic Kingdom fireworks. With 967 themed accommodations ranging from studios to multi-bedroom villas, the property aims to blend nature-inspired design with Disney storytelling elements. However, some observers find the concept art underwhelming compared to previous releases, questioning whether the execution will match the ambitious vision. The resort’s defining pool complex must deliver exceptional quality to succeed in selling DVC memberships and attracting guests despite concerns about its location near Fort Wilderness.
