Toy Story 5 Aims for Record Box Office with Swift Collaboration

Disney and Pixar are preparing to release Toy Story 5, which will feature the beloved characters Woody, Buzz, Jessie, and their friends facing a new technological threat. The film introduces Lilypad as a central antagonist and includes voice work from Greta Lee and Conan O’Brien in a role called Smarty Pants. A major promotional campaign includes a brand-new song by Taylor Swift titled I Knew It, I Knew You, following weeks of hidden Easter eggs that hinted at this collaboration. Industry insiders suggest the movie is targeting an impressive opening weekend between $150 million and $175 million domestically, which would rank it among the top three animated film debuts in North American history. This ambitious goal surpasses Toy Story 4’s previous opening of roughly $120.9 million and approaches the records set by Incredibles 2 and Inside Out 2. A sneak peek shown at D23 in August 2025 revealed high-tech Buzz Lightyear toys stranded on a deserted island who manage to escape and return to civilization. The film is scheduled for release on June 19th, with presale tickets already available for eager fans.
