A Taste of EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival starts July 15th

Many fans have questions on the upcoming festivals at Walt Disney World. With the many changes that are changing the way we visit the theme parks today, Disney has just announced a change to Epcot’s Food & Wine Festival.

As we prepare for the reopening of our theme parks next month, Disney is taking a measured and deliberate approach to their planning that applies appropriate new health and safety measures. They will continue to follow guidance from government and health officials for responsibly operating their theme parks, so they can make the right adjustments to their offerings, including the upcoming fall events.

One staple of the fall season at the Walt Disney World Resort is the annual EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival. Today, we’re pleased to share that not only have we cooked up a creative, modified festival experience, it will also be our longest festival yet – giving you plenty of time to enjoy “A Taste of EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival!”

A Taste of EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival starts July 15th

This new take on the foodie festival will debut July 15 and continue through the fall, offering over 20 signature global marketplaces like Hawaii, Hops & Barley, and Islands of the Caribbean, spaced out around the park. And, if you’ve ever imagined a world where the floral fun of Flower & Garden is sprinkled in with the global goodies of Food & Wine, here’s your chance – guests will be able to see our newest topiary, Remy, in the France pavilion and find Flower & Garden merchandise. For scavenger hunt fans, Remy’s Ratatouille Hide and Squeak scavenger hunt returns. And stay tuned as Food & Wine merchandise joins the fun later on after the festival begins.

We know the popular musical acts during the “Eat to the Beat Concert Series” often pack the house and, in an effort to accommodate proper physical distancing, we will not be able to host these concerts this year. There will be plenty of music to enjoy at America Gardens Theatre with local EPCOT entertainment such as Mariachi Cobre, the JAMMitors and more. These fan favorites will spread out their performances throughout the day, giving audiences more options to enjoy them.

Artist Turns Pet Photos into Adorable Disney Animated Animals. Get ready to say “Awwww!” a lot in this post.

Dutch illustrator, Isa Bredt, started drawing pet submissions as classic 2D animated “Disney-fied” characters and the artwork is adorable. Bredt refers to this practice as “disneyfication” and created an Instagram account dedicated to featuring her work. The drawings have recently gone viral online and it’s very clear why!

“Pet disneyfications is something I did very sporadically in my free time for about 5 years,” Bredt shared when speaking with Bored Panda. “I started because I was and still am a big fan of both drawing animals and the old Disney style.”

She went not say she is not a Disney animator, but wanted to practice the iconic 2D animation style associated with the House of Mouse and offered to do free drawings with photo submissions from fellow Reddit users.

“I am just a very big fan. The Lion King is my all time favorite movie, I used to watch it daily as a child. I adore the old animal movies; Lady and the Tramp, 101 Dalmatians, the Aristocats. There was a subreddit where you could offer free art to people. I wanted to practice the Disney style, so I offered free drawings for people who would send me pictures of their pets.”

“I did this a few times and people really enjoyed it, though I wasn’t very good yet,” she explained. “Then, last summer, I decided to take on commissions as a summer job because I didn’t want to work in the food service industry again, and it went well enough that I decided to create an Instagram and do the commissions as a side job.”

Bredt’s work is “paws”itively adorable and features many kinds of animals, but a good chunk of the work featured Cats and Dogs from many backgrounds. Some opportunities are more candid than others, but we could easily see that the drawings seem to jump right out of classic Disney films!

Fans petition Disney to keep Splash Mountain as it is

Fans petition Disney to keep Splash Mountain as it is Splash Mountain

We shared the news a couple of days ago about a petition to change the Splash Mountain theme to something from Princess and the Frog. It was a very heated debate on our Facebook Page and Group.

Today there is a petition To Keep Splash Mountain as it is in the Magic Kingdom!

On the site it says this:

Splash Mountain is an iconic ride at the Magic Kingdom and has been such for nearly 50 years. There is nothing wrong with the ride and is loved by millions of fans all over the world. To change such an iconic ride would erode The Nostalgia that lives in Disney World and take away a little bit of the magic.

They want to change the ride to be themed to something more politically correct is foolish. The characters in The Ride do not specifically generalize any race or group of people. They are nothing more than caricatures of the turn of the century America. To change them would be to remove a bid of our art history from the world and to be ashamed of it.

Show your support and let Disney know that you want Splash Mountain to stay exactly the way it is!

So if you feel Disney needs to leave Splash Mountain as it is you can sign the petition here. If you would like for Disney to re-imagine Splash Mountain to a Princess and the Frog theme just click here to find that petition.
